Investigations on the two suspects arrested on Sunday in Kitale are underway.
According to the OCPD Lucas Ogara, the two men said to hail from West Pokot and Kisumu County are highly suspected to be working for the Somali based terror militia known as Al-shaabab.
Earlier on the police, working on a a tip off, swiftly moved fast to abort a planned assault by the two suspects.
One of them escaped the dragnet. Initial reports had indicated that the two were destined to bomb achurch congregation in the capital Nairobi.
During the raid, two Russian made stick hand grenade were recovered. at the same time the DCIO, explained that the grenades recovered were highly dangerous and are capable of causing widespread damage to property and lives.
Together with the DCIO, Paul Wachira the two two officers called upon the members of the public to be always vigilant and to report any suspicious characters. the OCPD, particularly urged the owners of guest houses to frisk all guest as they check in. Churches and social clubs have been put on higher alert.
