Nairobi - A massive port project and transport corridor linking Kenya’s coast to Ethiopia and oil-rich South Sudan is slowly becoming a reality.
The idea of a port in Lamu was first mooted in1972, but has remained a dream and an idea only in government files.
Accorrding to Capital News, the Prime Minister Raila Odinga led leaders and other stakeholders to the site on Tuesday and he said that it was the most serious project to be undertaken by the government since independence and warned the provincial administration against authorising sale of land in the area slated for the project.
There was a beehive of activity already in the area that is opening up the remote region ahead of the commissioning of the project planned for March 2.
