Cape Town - A video released by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta), where a zoo owner repeatedly whipped a performing tiger, has led to the man being charged for animal cruelty in Ontario, Canada.
Peta released the video, where Bowmanville Zoo owner Michael Hackenberger can be seen whipping and swearing at the tiger repeatedly, four months ago.
Hackenberger is a Hollywood animal trainer and has worked on on a number of blockbusters including: Life of Pi, The Interview and George of the Jungle.
In the video, Hackenberger can be seen whipping the tiger up to 20 times.
He even admitted in the video that Peta would burn his facility if they new how he "trained his animals".
Hackenberger has denied Peta's claims and said that he was whipping the ground, despite the fact that you can hear the animal moan in the video.
