Tbilisi, Georgia — A film director in the Soviet republic of Georgia says he recorded the nation's president jumping out of his motorcade to rescue a pregnant woman stuck in an overturned car.
Gigi Kitiya, who filmed the accident, said on Wednesday that President Giorgi Margvelashvili stopped his motorcade and helped to remove the woman from the mangled car. The president's press office confirmed the reports.
Kitiya said the accident happened Tuesday on the outskirts of the capital Tbilisi. Kitiya said Margvelashvili jumped out the car despite the protests of his security detail who tried to stop him. The woman was reported to have been unconscious and there were no immediate reports on her condition.
Kitiya said he will be releasing the video on national television.
