Police find two suitcases with body parts floating on a lake

04 January 2016, 14:36

Vienna — Police have recovered two suitcases with body parts inside from an Austrian lake.

A police statement says the remains are of a woman aged around 70. The suitcases were hauled Sunday from the waters of the Traunsee at the lakeside town of Gmunden, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of Salzburg, after a man reported seeing a floating piece of luggage.

Investigators were working Monday to identify the victim and establish a cause of death. State-run broadcaster ORF said their task was made more difficult because the remains were incomplete.
