Washington - US citizens have been safely evacuated from Bor, in South Sudan, a state department statement said on Sunday.
"This morning, the United States - in co-ordination with the United Nations and in consultation with the South Sudanese government - safely evacuated American citizens from Bor.
"US citizens and citizens from our partner nations were flown from Bor to Juba on UN and US civilian helicopters," the statement said.
Bor, the capital of the state of Jonglei, has been the scene of some of the nation's worst violence over the last week.
