Man fired for farting too much at work

05 October 2015, 19:41

Lagos - A US man’s wife has sued their former place of employment after he was fired for farting too much, Huffington Post reports.

Richard Clem, 70, and his wife Louann worked at Case Pork Roll Company of Trenton, New Jersey. Richard had worked at the company for ten years before he was fired because of his flatulence.

According to Louann, the fact that Richard was fired is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act as Richard has obesity.

Richard underwent gastric bypass surgery soon after he was hired but even though he lost 120 pounds he gained back 10, and suffered side effects such as flatulence and diarrhea. His condition got worse in 2013, which resulted in complaints.

According to Richard, he is speaking up for all the overweight people that are still able to do good work but are discriminated against because of their weight. However a criminal defense attorney has said that it’s unlikely the court will side with the Clems as he made the working place uncomfortable for other employees.
