Boston - A friend of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for removing Tsarnaev's backpack from his dorm room with another friend after the 2013 attack.
Azamat Tazhayakov tearfully apologized Friday to the people of Boston and to his family for his actions. He also denounced Tsarnaev's decision to bomb the marathon, saying it made him sick.
Tazhayakov has already spent more than two years behind bars.
Another friend of Tsarnaev is due to be sentenced later Friday.
Robel Phillipos was convicted of lying to the FBI days after the bombings. Former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis wrote a letter of support for Phillipos asking that he not be incarcerated.
Prosecutors haven't said what kind of sentence they're seeking for Phillipos.
