Complaints over Asiana crew interview

10 July 2013, 12:04

Seoul - Asiana Airlines says US authorities formally complained about a news conference given by the cabin manager on the flight that crashed in San Francisco.

Asiana spokesperson Lee Hyomin said on Wednesday that a document from the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) cited cabin manager Lee Yoon-hye's description to reporters of the dramatic evacuation. All but two of the 307 people on board survived.

The Asiana spokesperson had no further details about the complaint.

The liberal Hankyoreh newspaper in South Korea reported on Wednesday that the NTSB warned Asiana not to hold more news conferences and demanded an English transcript of Lee's comments.

Hankyoreh didn't cite sources. It says Asiana plans to comply.

Hankyoreh says the NTSB told Asiana that publicity could affect public opinion during the investigation into what caused Saturday's crash.
