Washington - A former CIA official was charged on Monday with leaking classified information to journalists, including the name of a covert agent and the interrogation of a top al-Qaeda operative, the Justice Department said.
John Kiriakou, who served with the CIA between 1990 and 2004, was charged with violating a law that makes it illegal to disclose the identity of a covert officer, and lying to a CIA publications review board, the department said.
