Boy beaten to death for incomplete homework

Bangkok - A father in Thailand has admitted to beating his son to death over incomplete homework, police officials said on Wednesday.

The incident happened late Tuesday when a 9-year-old lied to his father about not having homework only for the father to find incomplete homework hidden underneath his bed.

"The father admitted that he had been drinking and to killing his son in rage over incomplete homework," police spokesperson Chayanont Ungaew of Phayao Police Department, in Phayao, 500km north of Bangkok.

The father is now in police custody and will be prosecuted by authorities for assault and murder.
