Afghan deputy governor shot dead

Kabul - The deputy governor of Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan was shot dead during a university class, Afghan officials said on Monday.
"The gunman entered Abdul Qadim Patyal's classroom on Sunday night and opened fire on him while he was listening to the teacher's lecture", said provincial official Dawa Khan Menapal.
Menapal said that the killer had escaped.
President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack.
Patyal was in his last semester in the education faculty of Kandahar University. He was studying in night classes.
