Nicosia - Gunmen killed 10 workers when they stormed a factory in the central Syrian province of Homs on Wednesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
"Ten workers employed in a factory in the village of Kafrlaha in the Hula region of Homs were killed on Wednesday when gunmen from nearby villages stormed the factory and opened fire on the workers," the group said.
The Britain-based organisation gave no further details, and it was not immediately clear why the reported attack was carried out.
Report of the killings comes with Syria poised on Wednesday to respond to an Arab League plan to end violence between government forces and an anti-regime protest movement.
Homs is at the forefront of the protests which erupted in the country in mid-March.
The UN estimates that more than 3 000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in a government crackdown on dissent since.
