1 killed in home as Israeli strike continues

11 July 2014, 08:07

Gaza City - One Palestinian in Gaza City was killed by an Israeli attack on his home on Friday, medical sources said, as the air war entered its fourth day.

Gaza emergency services spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra named the fatality as Anas Abu al-Kass, 33, of the city's Tel el-Hawa neighbourhood.

The Tel el-Hawa attack raised to over 80 the overall number of Gazans killed since Israel launched Operation Protective Edge early on Tuesday to halt cross-border rocket fire by militant groups.

Gaza witnesses said it was part of a series of 15 strikes by Israel.

The Israeli army had no immediate comment on Abu al-Kass.

Earlier in a statement it noted that at least 140 rockets fired by Gaza militants had hit Israel during Thursday, with another 44 intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system.
