Nairobi - Ulinzi Stars have announced the departure of chairman Col. JS Mwinyikai,
under whose leadership the club has thrived for the last five years.
Mwinyikai will be attending a one-year career progression course at
the Kenya Defence College and will therefore no longer have the time
needed to perform his club duties.
"It would be difficult to balance the two because both are demanding
and so I made the decision to leave the leadership of the team to Lt.
Col Oloo because then he can be able to carry on well," Col. Mwinyikai
told the club's official website.
"I have trust in him and his abilities and I know he will steer the team to success, just the same path I was on."
Stars are currently second in the Kenyan Premier League standings, two points adrift of leaders Tusker.
Under Mwinyikai, the club has gained much respect and are seen as one
of the most efficient and well-run teams in Kenya during the chairman's
Mwinyikai also oversaw the successful transition of youth - Stars'
current average age is just 24, while their junior team, the Ulinzi
Warriors, have provided a host of players to the senior side.
