Sanchez admits injury fear

06 April 2016, 15:55

Nairobi - Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has admitted that his return to form was hampered by the fear that he would suffer another injury.

The Chile international was in scintillating form in the first half of the campaign, bagging 19 goals to help the Gunners keep pace with Leicester City and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League standings.

However, Sanchez his superb run of form was halted by a serious hamstring injury in November, ruling him out of action for two months.

And he struggled to make a meaningful contribution upon his return to action this year, but is now finally getting back to his best.

"Before my injury I was 100 per cent fit," Sanchez told the Evening Standard. "I was feeling well. After the injury I wanted to get back but it was hard.

"I had a setback and when I played a match, I was scared I would get injured again because the thing I like most in the world is playing football and when I can't play, I feel sad."

Arsenal currently trail league leaders Leicester by 11 points, but do have a game in hand ahead of their clash with West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.

The absence of Sanchez was certainly felt by the Gunners, and the Chilean admits it's hard to stomach when results aren't going their way.

Meanwhile, the Gunners return to action on Saturday where they face London rivals West Ham United.

Kick-off is at 13:45.
