Roma confirm signing of Nigerian pair

30 June 2016, 13:16

Nairobi - Roma have completed the signings of Nigerian duo Sadiq Umar and Abdullahi Nura on four-year deals from Serie B side Spezia.

After impressing whilst on loan with the Giallorossi last season, the Abuja Football College graduates have been recruited permanently for a reported combined fee of 5 million euros.

The Eternal City outfit made the announcement on their official website after revealing that they exercised the option to sign the Nigerian youngsters.

"Sadiq Umar and Abdullahi Nura are now #ASRoma players after deals were tied up today," read a statement from Roma's official Twitter account.

The acquisitions of Umar (19) and Nura (18) will add options for Luciano Spalletti's side in both attack and defence next season, with the latter starring at right-back for Roma's Primavera youth side, scoring three goals as they went onto clinch the title last term.

Umar is a burly centre-forward who netted twice in six Serie A appearances for the club and was reportedly being tracked by a number of top European clubs.
