Pep's latest comments suggest Man United could be his next destination

15 January 2016, 12:38

Cape Town - Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola revealed that it may be two-years before he takes a job in the English Premier League.

According to SkySports, the former Barcelona boss admits that he will first return to his native country [Spain] before making a decision to move to England.

Guardiola confirmed during the Bundesliga’s festive season break that his time at Bayern is set to come to an end when the current season comes to a close and that the EPL is his next challenge.

"When I sign a contract I will announce it immediately," said the two time Champions League winning manager.

"Maybe it will be two years until I will coach a team in England.

"I am very happy about my experience in Munich. I am working until my last second here.

"After that I will go home and wait to see if it is possible to move to England or not. If it's not, then I won't."

Guardiola’s latest comments suggest that he may wait for the Manchester United job to become available as Louis Van Gaal’s contract will expire at the end of the 2016/2017 season.

However, the highly successful Spanish mentor has been strongly linked with the Manchester City job as Manuel Pellegrini is set to step down for the former Barcelona midfielder.

Reports suggest that Pellegrini will then take up a job at Chelsea, who has since sacked Jose Mourinho as their manager.

The former FC Porto boss has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford as well as the Real Madrid job.

In recent events Manchester United fans have been calling for Van Gaal’s head and are relishing the prospect of Guardiola taking over at the helm.
