Olunga named KPL player of the year

Nairobi - Gor Mahia striker Michael Olunga has been named the 2015 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) player of the year at the KPL awards gala held on Wednesday niught at a Nairobi Hotel.
Olunga beat his Gor Mahia teammate, Karim Nizigiyimana, Tusker FC's Jesse Were, Leopards' Bernard Mang'oli and Nairobi City Stars striker Ebrimah Sanneh to win the award.
Anthony Ndolo won the award in 2014 while former AFC Leopards striker Jacob Keli won the 2013 player of the year award.
Dan Sserunkuma won the 2012 award. Mathare United’s Kevin Kimani, Gor Mahia’s George Blackberry Odhiambo, John Baraza (Sofapaka) and Francis Ouma (Mathare United) bagged the award in 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008, respectively.
Were won the golden boot award for his 22 league goals, Mathare United's Eric Johanna the midfielder of the year award, Nizigiyimana the defender of the year award and Gor's Boniface Oluoch the goalkeeper of the year.
Gor Mahia head coach Frank Nuttal was unsurprisingly named coach of the year after leading Gor to an unbeaten season in the KPL.
