Ochieng targets Swedish deal

26 January 2016, 12:59

Nairobi - Harambee Stars defender David Ochieng has joined compatriot Michael Olunga on trial at Swedish club IF Djugardens.

Ochieng linked-up with Olunga with the hopes of securing contracts with the club after a failed trial at AaB Fodbold in Denmark.

Reports indicate that Gor Mahia showed interest in Ochieng after leaving Al Taawuon in the Saudi Arabia as a free agent.

"It was a great time in Denmark. Obviously on the first day I couldn't quite find my feet well due to the weather but I adopted and played a friendly," Ochieng told Soka.

"I did very well and the coach told me after the game he was impressed with my abilities.

"He (coach) told me it would be hard to sign me at the moment but in the mid-season window, there would be chance for me. I have picked a lot of lessons from that week of trials and I have gained a lot personally.

"It is another challenge I am ready for and I will work hard to see to it that I get a chance. It is a good team and I have heard good stuff about them so possibly I will remain here."
