Leicester's Champions League spot confirmed

Cape Town - Following Manchester City's stalemate against Newcaste United, Leicester City are guaranteed a UEFA Champions League group stage spot.
It was Vurnon Anita's equaliser that cancelled out Sergio Aguero's opener at St James' Park, which confirmed Claudio Ranieri's charges place in the 2016/17 edition of the competition.
With four games left, the Citizens and Arsenal still have a fixture against one another at the end of the month. It is likely that the outcome of that match would confirm third place in the EPL.
A top three finish in the English Premiership earns a team an automatic spot in the Champions League draw while the fourth place side will have to vy it out in the qualification round.
According to the Leicester Mercury, The Foxes are just the sixth side (Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain) in Europe to guarantee their place in the group stage next season.
If City end up winning the league they will assure their place in Pot 1 and avoid all the big hitters in the European competition.
The UEFA Champions League draw for the group stage will be made on August 25.
