Lahm: An incredible evening

Cape Town - Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has praised his teammates after they progressed in the Champions League with a 4-2 extra-time win over Juventus on Wednesday.
The first half was all Juve at the Allianz Arena, with Paul Pogba putting them ahead on the night and on aggregate in just the fifth minute and Juan Cuadrado adding a second just before the half-hour mark.
But Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for Die Roten in the 73rd minute before Thomas Müller equalised right at the death to force extra time, in which Thiago Alcantara and Kingsley Coman bagged the goals that saw the German champions through.
"You could see how close the top teams are in terms of quality," Lahm said. "We might have conceded a third goal shortly before the break.
"But we knew we could score two. The subs did an outstanding job. It was an incredible evening."
After a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Turin, Bayern weren't expecting to be two goals down at halftime on their own turf, and Müller admits that events went off-script until his 91st-minute effort saved Bayern from an early elimination.
"It wasn't going according to plan," Müller added. "It was a crazy match. It was weird. I didn't see much of the ball because Juve defended very deep. We didn't defend very well when we conceded the two goals."
