KPL wrap: Otieno stars for Rangers

16 February 2016, 12:21

Nairobi - A new-look AFC Leopards side came from behind to settle for a 1-1 draw against Mathare United and Posta Rangers marked their return to the SportPesa Premier League with an opening win over Muhoroni Youth at Nyayo Stadium in Sunday's matches.

The 13 time league champions AFC Leopards came back from a goal down to draw in their competitive and enjoyable KPL season opener.

Mathare got off to a flying start with an Obadiah Ndege goal in the second minute.

Leopards fought back like a wounded tiger and were rewarded midway through the second quarter. Chrispinus Oduor handled the ball inside the box in an attempt to prevent a shot from the dangerous new signing Clifton Miheso. Another Ingwe new signing Andrew Tololwa stepped forward to slot the spot kick home against his former side.

Playing their first match in the top flight league since November 2012, Posta Rangers announced their return in style.

Gor Mahia striker Timothy Otieno, on loan at Rangers, scored both goals, the first coming in the sixth minute following some good combination with Dennis Mukaisi.

The red-hot Otieno was at it again in the 76th minute with a splendid individual effort to beat Muhoroni goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo and made it 2-0.
