KPL Governing Council resolutions

Nairobi - The Kenyan Premier League Governing Council met in Mombasa on January 21
to 22 and passed a number of resolutions touching on the way the
competition is run, association with sponsors, management, and finances.
Amongst other decisions, the league bosses agreed, in view of the
partnership with sports betting firm SportPesa, to adopt a new betting
policy to be signed by every player, referee, coach and club official
before kickoff of the 2016 Premier League. The policy will, from 2017,
form part of the players, referees, coaches and club officials
The meeting also resolved to review and set guidelines on club
sponsorship by a single sponsor, club ownership and acquisition of a KPL
On league security, a League Chief Safety and Security Officer (CSSO)
will be appointed through competitive bidding. Part of the role of the
CSSO will be to train the Club Safety and Security Officers, Club
Stewards and Marshals, and set the minimum safety requirements at all
KPL events. This is in line with the league’s effort to improve safety
The governors agreed to review and adopt the best option of a centralized ticketing system for all KPL matches.
It was also resolved that the league adopts a zero-tolerance on player tapping in accordance with the Rules.
The Governing Council is the highest organ of the KPL and is composed
of the 16 Premier League club chairmen and the president of Football
