Kimanzi rubbishes Mathare rumours

08 December 2015, 19:04

Nairobi - Francis Kimanzi has denied recent reports linking him with the vacant head coach role at Mathare United.

Mathare are on the hunt for a new manager after dismissing Stanley Okumbi from the position at the end of this season following the club's disappointing ninth-place finish in the Kenyan Premier League.

Kimanzi is somewhat of a cult figure at the club, having led the Slum Boys to the title while in charge back in 2008 and his current availability has fans excited about the possibility of a return.

Unfortunately for the club's supporters, at this stage at least, it all seems to be hearsay and rumours, with Kimanzi himself coming out to deny there has been any contact between him and the Mathare United hierachy.

"The truth is that I have heard that from you, no one has approached me concerning the job or even showed intentions to. I wonder where they got those reports from. If anything concrete comes, I will definitely tell you," he told Goal.
