Gor Mahia turn attention to Ulinzi Stars

14 September 2016, 13:35

Nairobi - Gor Mahia defender Karim Nizigiyimana believes a victory against Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday will get them back in direct title contention.

The second-placed defending champions will face fellow high-flyers Ulinzi at the Nyayo Stadium in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Tusker are top of the table with 45 points from 24 games, while Gor have 40 points to their name following 23 games, and Ulinzi have 37 points - also from 23 fixtures.

Karim missed the 3-1 win over Chemelil Sugar at the weekend after serving a one-match suspension.

"It feels good to be back and I am happy that my teammates did a good job when I was away," Nizigiyimana told Soka.

"It was important that we win against Chemelil Sugar because it took some pressure off us and it has now given us a realistic chance of pushing for the title.

"We cannot afford to drop points at this stage of the league so we are going to give our best to get three points today. It is going to be a tough match but I want to urge the fans to come out in large numbers and rally behind the team."
