Nairobi - Gor Mahia goalkeeper coach Mathews Ottamax has left the club after being shown the door by head coach Ze Maria.
K'Ogalo were eliminated from the GOtv Shield tournament following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nzoia United on Sunday.
Ottamax was not on the technical bench as he had already been told by Maria on Friday that his services were no longer required.
"He (Ze Maria) told me in the face that I am not in the travelling
party, and that my working relationship with the club is over. He even
went further to commission one of the senior players to find a
replacement," Ottamax told the Star.
"He has always used bitter words against us in front of the players,
and wants to show how superior he is. Yes I am out, but Gor Mahia is my
team and I will never stop supporting it. This man Ze Maria is dividing
The former Kenya international also voiced his discontent on social media:
"A blank firing coach decides to fire his goalkeeping coach. Maybe
this will solve his scoring problems. Mine is to say a big thank you to
Gor Mahia players, staff, the executive office and our loving fans for
everything we achieved as a family during the three and a half seasons I
was with you. I remain loyal to my Mother Club."
K'Ogalo are second on the league table, seven points behind Tusker, but with a game in hand.
