Footballer in court for lying he is 19, while 28

18 January 2016, 13:06

Nairobi - A footballer has been taken to court for lying that he was 19 while he was indeed 28 years of age.

According to 101 Great Goals, the footballer, Yusupha Yaffa from Gambia is allegedly in hot soup for making the big change in his documents to seal a move to the Italian giants.

The forward joined Milan’s youth set-up, where went on to become a regular for the Milan U19 side but did not make the step-up ti the senior side.

Yaffa is currently playing for German side MSV Duisburg. It is not yet clear whether they have decided to institute any actions against the player.

According to further reports on Gazzetta dello Sport , Yaffa has now been summoned to court in Italy by Milan for fraud.

Milan say that Yaffa claims he lost his documents on a number of occasions, and when he arrived at the immigration office in 2009 in Italy, he claimed he was born on the 31st of December 1996, instead of the 14th of November 1987.

Issues of age cheating in the African continent are rampant and it remains to be seen whether this will lead to further investigations in future.
