Nairobi - Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira insists that the Kenyan Premier League giants will only sign high-caliber players.
The defending KPL champions have built a strong squad in order to
compete in the Top 8, CECAFA Kagame Cup and CAF Champions League.
K'Ogalo have made a few signings recently, including defender
Wellington Ochieng from Muhoroni Youth and Brazilian striker Thiago da
"Gor Mahia is a big team that needs big players to compete in various competitions we are taking part in," Ferreira told Soka.
"We have Baron (Oketch), a good player whom I saw when we played
against Western Stima and that's why we went for him. We only choose
good players because we want to defend the league and go to the
Champions League next year.
"Our target is to defend the league and Top 8 titles, win CECAFA
Kagame Cup which the club lost in the final last year. We are expecting
other new signings before closing shop."
The Brazilian coach will also be looking to guide his team past
Tusker FC in the Top 8 semi-final, first-leg at the Nyayo National
Stadium on Sunday.
"It's a very important game for us," Ferreira said. "Tusker is on top
of the league and it's the only team we lost against in the league so
we need to score many goals on the day.
"It will be difficult but we are here to try. We now have good
mentality than before and we intend to demonstrate the same as we have
done in the previous six games we won."
