De Bruyne sets sights on Champions League final

12 April 2016, 19:45

Cape Town - Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne sees no reason why his side cannot feature in the Champions League final.

City have a chance to take one step closer to the final if they beat Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their quarter-final clash on Tuesday.

After a gruelling 2-2 draw in the first leg in Paris, De Bruyne believes that the Citizens are capable of seeing off PSG at the Etihad Stadium.

"If we get a good result we're already in the semi-final, just two games away from the finals," De Bruyne told Manchester Evening News. "You never know where it ends, but the competition remains important."

City are currently on track to qualify for next season's Champions League as they sit in fourth place on the Premier League standings, but the Belgium international knows that they have to keep performing well if they are to maintain their position.

"The competition is very heavy in England," he said. "When you play against the team in 15th, it's still a very difficult match.

"In other countries you can pick players from your B team to play against the team in 15th, and will still win 80 percent of the time. You cannot do that in England."
