Billiat in 'top 10 best players in Africa'

20 July 2016, 20:38

Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic believes Mamelodi Sundowns winger Khama Billiat is one of Africa's best talents.

The Zimbabwe international has taken the huge potential he showed at Ajax Cape Town and added strength, and importantly, finishing prowess to his game.

With his pace, excellent ball control and the ability to beat defenders, Billiat appears unstoppable at times and has been at the forefront of Sundowns' dominance in South Africa over the past three seasons.

Uganda coach Sredojevic watched the 25-year-old score one goal and set up another in Downs' 2-1 win over Zamalek in Egypt on Sunday night, and believes he was seeing one of the continent's greatest talents in action.

"Watching Zim livewire Khama Billiat last night in Cairo made me believe he is now in top 10 best players in Africa," Sredojevic posted on his Twitter account.

Billiat was named as PSL Footballer of the Year at the end of the 2015/16 domestic season. But while the awards he has been racking up are appreciated, Billiat is restless for more success, especially in the CAF Champions League.

"I want to work so hard that I put myself in a situation whereby I don't even see the trophies, I just put them in the card box and I don't see them so that I always stay motivated and continue feeling like I haven't won anything," he told KickOff.

"That is how I believe I will be able to achieve more and more. Personal accolades are things that I want to look at when I hang my boots. For now it feels like I am just arriving and I still have so much more to play for.

"I have never reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League let alone win it so there are just way too many things to work for."
