Bayern: Gotze talks can wait

13 April 2016, 10:24

Cape Town - Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the club will sit down with reported Liverpool target Mario Gotze at the end of the campaign to discuss his future.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to England and a reunion with former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, after making just 10 Bundesliga appearances this term.

However, his season has been blighted by injuries and Gotze was handed a rare start for Bayern in their 3-1 win at Stuttgart on Saturday, which extended their lead over Dortmund at the top of the standings to seven points.

The 23-year-old midfielder has a little over 12 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena, but is yet to follow in the footsteps of Javi Martinez, Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng by signing an extension with the Bavarian giants.

Rummenigge, though, insists talk of Gotze leaving is just speculation and that neither the player or his agent have expressed a such a desire, but they are welcome to have a sit-down with him during the off-season.

"We are in the important weeks of the season, so we concentrate on the here and now," the German legend told Schwabische Zeitung.

"This is all that counts. When all the games are done, Mario is invited to come to my office and speak with Bayern on his future.

"Everything else is speculative. Neither Mario nor his agent has expressed themselves about this subject."
