Aguero: Guardiola allows creative freedom

12 October 2016, 12:10

Cape Town - Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is pleased that new manager Pep Guardiola's style of coaching has not restricted his natural way of playing.

Aguero has excelled in the Premier Devision despite it's reputation for tactical discipline and strong defences.

The Argentine says that it's different at the Etihad since Guardiola joined and that even in his national team set-up he is forced to play higher up the pitch to create more space for attacking midfielders.

"He (Guardiola) wants me right as a nine, but then he gives me more freedom too. He asks me to move all around the attack," Aguero told Ole website.

"On the other hand, Tata (Martino, ex-Argentina boss) wanted me between the two defenders, to create more space for Leo (Messi), Fideo (Di Maria) or Pastore or Banega. Pep is different.

"Pep is very picky about everything. It's good. The good thing is that I'm getting used to him and automatically going straight in to pressing the centre-backs."

Aguero has an outstanding record of 107 Premier League goals in 154 games since joining the club in 2011.
