Witchcraft claims force abandonment of football match

Mombasa - A domestic football match in Mombasa was abandoned over the weekend after riots broke out following claims that spectators used black magic (juju) to decide the outcome.
Alaskan FC were leading 1-0 over local rivals Napoli FC during the Mishi Mboko Tournament when a supporter of the former ran into the pitch and broke a coconut as a charm to maintain the result.
Tournament co-ordinator, Said Rajab, confirmed that fighting soon broke out between the opposing teams and spectators who pelted each other with missiles, forcing the match to abort with an hour of play gone.
Following the melee, Rajab stated Alaskan have been expelled from the tournament as punishment for bringing the game into disrepute.
In April last year, a referee sued Football Kenya Federation ( FKF), claiming he had been rendered impotent after a coach grabbed and squeezed his testicles during a pitch invasion in the same city.
A Kenyan High Court earlier acquitted the accused Sparki Youth FC official, David Kajembe, after the prosecution failed to prove charges of grievous bodily harm.
