Williamson backs blundering Jerim Onyango

31 July 2014, 15:39

Nairobi -  Gor Mahia head coach Bobby Williamson has leaped to the defence of goalkeeper Jerim Onyango following his error against AFC Leopards.

Gor were 2-1 up with 10 minutes left in the match, until Onyango misjudged his step which saw Martin Imbalambala level matters and get a share of the points at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Williamson admitted that his keeper made a mistake which was a blow for his team, but has assured him of his support despite the blunder.

"There is no doubt that he made a mistake and it cost us," he said. "However, he should not be wholly blamed for that goal.

"He has done very well for us in the past and we cannot look at one performance to judge him."
