Villa to play deferred ties this week

Uganda’s most decorated side SC Villa face Water on Wednesday in one of their two rescheduled Bell Super League games.
The 16-time league record champions will also play Simba on Friday after they missed the two encounters away participating in the BTV tournament in Vietnam.
Lack of coordination from local football governing body Fufa and USL had created confusion over the competition’s continuity, with USL breaking off the league this week to allow the Uganda Cup, an FA Cup version of sorts, to kick off.
But Fufa had not even conducted draws for the early stages of the Cup. USL spokesperson James Ssekandi told SuperSport.com on Monday they followed protocol in breaking off the league but now that nothing is coming from Fufa, Villa can play their rescheduled games.
“For us we followed the Fufa calendar to break off the league and that was the right thing to do. We were also shocked they had not done the draws for the Cup,” he said.
Villa made the semi finals of the BTV tourney before crushing out to Sai Gon Xuan Thanh on penalties.
Their performance was surprising given that Srdjan Zivojnov’s side were struggling in the local league before they left for Vietnam. More surprisingly that Simon Sserunkuma ended the tournament with two goals.
Villa are yet to score a goal in three games back home and have picked only two points, the reason they lie second from bottom in the league.
SuperSport’s live broadcast of the league resumes next Tuesday on SS9.
