Upbeat Harambee Stars leave for Comoros

28 May 2014, 09:14

Nairobi - The national football team is bubbling with confidence ahead of its crucial 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros.

The match is scheduled for Moroni on Friday.

The Harambee Stars, who retained the bulk of the players that did sterling work during the first leg assignment, departs this afternoon for Moroni in Comoros before squaring off in a do-or-die encounter.

Among these include the watertight defence of David Owino and Musa Mohammed of Gor Mahia, James Mulinge Ndetto and Oliver Ruto of Ulinzi Stars with Joackins Atudo of Tusker and Hillary Otieno of Kariobangi Sharks.

The squad will also juggle between the two goalkeepers - Wilson Obungu of Bandari and Frederick Onyango of Gor Mahia as who will be on goalposts.

The Harambee Stars will also select the starting midfielders from Anthony “Teddy” Akumu of Gor Mahia, Clifton Miheso of Sofapaka, Paul Mungai Kiongera Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Geoffrey Kataka of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and Harrison Mwendwa of Mathare United.

While the strike force remain slightly changed, the coach will ensure that he starts with sharp shooting strikers in order to get early goals to unsettle Comoros.
