Top teams herald KPL resumption

09 May 2014, 15:33

Nairobi - The Kenya Premier League resumes on Saturday with some top of the table clashes.

Defending champions Gor Mahia host Sofapaka while Western Stima clashes with Chemelil Sugar.

Gor Mahia are the current log leaders with 23 points from 11 matches played while Chemelil Sugar lie second on the league log standing with 21 points from 11 games.

Both Gor Mahia and Chemelil Sugar stand brightest chances of clinching this year's league title provided they don't drop crucial points along the way.

Sofapaka, who are placed fourth on the log should approach Gor Mahia's home with caution if ever wishes to come out with a point or a win, otherwise the defending champions have turned their home ground into a slaughter room where visiting teams always find themselves on the receiving side.

While second positioned Chemelil Sugar will be playing away from home, their current form will not be looked down upon against seventh placed Western Stima.

The only two league matches lined-up for Saturday will kick-off at 3:00 pm while the rest of the KPL matches would be played nationwide on Sunday.

Elsewhere across the country KCB will host Muhoroni Youth, Bandari entertains Sony Sugar while Top Fry Nakuru clashes with Ulinzi Stars.

Other matches will pit Mathare United and City Stars while sixth placed Thika United hosts former AFC Leopards in a match with potential to attract a full house.
