Barcelona - New Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen says he couldn't refuse joining the club since "offers like this don't come every day."
Ter Stegen joined Barcelona on a 12 million euros ($16.3 million) transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach, agreeing to a five-year deal that ties him to the club until 2019.
His buy-out clause was set at 80 million euros.
The Germany keeper replaces Victor Valdes, who helped back-up Barcelona's most successful period in club history.
Ter Stegen said, "(Valdes) has achieved so many things and won a number of titles and has always been there when he was needed. But I am myself and I will focus on my duties. I have already had enough work with that."
Barcelona are looking to rebound from their worst season since 2008.
