Stima decry Bukhungu closure
18 February 2014, 11:21
Kakamega - The Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega has been closed down by the Kakamega County Government for a year for renovations on the facility but Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Western Stima is not happy with the closure.
The venue is one of the blacklisted stadia by the KPL in the 2014 season owing to the porous nature of the inner perimeter fence that was deemed unsafe for players and match officials but the Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita does not think that warrants closure for a year.
He notes that the closure will leave his team at a disadvantage as it will mean they do not enjoy the home ground advantage like the other premier league teams and has thus called on the stadium management to reconsider the decision.
