Nairobi - The national football team Harambee Stars will start preparations for the 2014 World Cup pre-qualifier against Seychelles next week.
Harambee Stars Management Board member Gordon Oluoch told SuperSport.com on Monday that the team will begin preparations for the two legged tie against the island nation scheduled for November 11 and the return leg four days later.
“The African Cup of Nations is behind us and we are now focused on world cup pre qualifier against Seychelles.”
“We want the team to rest for one week and then start preparing by the end of next week. We have no doubt that we will perform well by beating Seychelles and move on to the group stages of the world cup qualifiers.”
At the same time, Olouch revealed that the board will make a decision on the coaching position for the national team. Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah Otieno has been handling the team on part time basis.
“We are exploring possibilities of a professional and fulltime coach and we will be announcing the position in the next couple of months.”
“We have received good CVs from around the world both from local and international coaches and all shall be considered for the position.”
Oluoch added that they had decided to hire a fulltime coach after the Seychelles game because of lack of time before the tie, “the Seychelles game is too close and even if you got in a new coach, the time is too short and we want to concentrate on the forthcoming fixture first.”
Should Kenya beat Seychelles, it will join Nigeria, Malawi and the winner of thye Djibouti vs Namibia pre-qualifier.
