Spurs sign Fryers from Liege

04 January 2013, 09:18

London - Tottenham Hotspur signed former Manchester United defender Zeki Fryers from Belgian club Standard Liege on Thursday.

England youth fullback Fryers quit United to join Liege just six months ago, but he has been lured back to England by Tottenham's offer.

The 20-year-old will initially link up with Tottenham's development squad as he looks to win a place in boss Andre Villas-Boas's first-team plans.

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Standard Liege for the signing of Zeki Fryers," a statement on Spurs' official website read.

"The young defender, capped by England at Under-16, 17 and 19 level, began his career at Manchester United before joining Standard Liege last summer."
