South Africa recall Serero for Congo clashes

Soweto - South Africa have recalled Ajax midfielder Thulani Serero for two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville during October.
New Bafana Bafana (The Boys) coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba omitted the playmaker from the squad that defeated Sudan and held title-holders Nigeria this month in eliminators.
Although Serero is the only South African currently playing UEFA Champions League football, he has been in and out of the national squad.
Gordon Igesund, the predecessor to Mashaba, dropped the Ajax player last year after accusing him of feigning injury to miss a World Cup qualifier.
Another recalled midfielder is Reneilwe Letsholonyane, who Igesund said was too old at 32 for international football.
The Kaizer Chiefs box-to-box workaholic has displayed outstanding early season form with his six goals helping the club to 10 victories in 10 league and cup matches.
Leading Orlando Pirates scorer Kermit Erasmus is another to be rewarded for good domestic form with a call-up.
Defensive additions include Tefu Mashamaite, whose goal gave Chiefs victory over Pirates last weekend in the Top 8 Cup final, and Kwanda Mngonyama of Maritzburg United.
Congo lead Group A with maximum points after a shock away win over Nigeria and a routine home victory over Sudan.
