Sony Sugar too sweet for KCB

24 October 2011, 09:19Fred Mainga, Supersport

Nairobi - Hugo Nzoka scored his eighth goal of the season as Sony Sugar’s fine form continued with a 1-0 win over KCB in Awendo on Sunday.

The burly striker nodded in Justine Monda's cross past goalkeeper Caleb Adola for the only goal of an otherwise scrappy match.

The first half was a see saw affair with Victor Majid rattling the KCB crossbar with a rasping shot.

Sony Sugar came back strongly in the second half but suffered a setback almost immediately as goalkeeper Gadi Kawuondi suffered an injury and was replaced by Collins Oduor.

The win pushed Sony up three places to fifth on the log table with 38 points.

"I am more than happy with the win as it has pushed us into the top five. My players followed instructions and we hope to continue with the steady progress" an elated Sony coach Francis Baraza told SuperSport.com.

His counterpart James Omondi who was handling his second game since being appointed said, "We fought hard but lost concentration midway but we hope to learn from our mistakes."
