Sofapaka's Ndolo attracting foreign attention

19 November 2014, 12:09

Nairobi - Anthony Ndolo claims there are "several clubs" both from within the KPL and overseas that are interested in luring him away in the off-season.

The playmaker enjoyed a superb campaign with Batoto ba Mungu in 2014, underlined by the fact he was recently named as one of the nominees for the Kenyan Premier League Player of the Year award.

And that, according to the player, has led to a flurry of interest in his services, with domestic outfits Tusker FC and AFC Leopards believed to be keen on reaching some sort of agreement, while Serbian outfit FK Jagodina have also been credited with an interest.

"There are several clubs that have approached me for my signature even though I still have six months on my contract. Tusker and AFC Leopards have spoken to me about joining them but we are yet to arrive at a deal with either of them," Ndolo, who bagged nine goals last season, told the KPL's official website.

"I have also received an invitation to attend trials with Serbian club Jagodina, but at the moment I prefer to consolidate my career here at home first before I move abroad. So I am hoping to join a local club that will present an attractive contract."

Ndolo is actually up for two awards at the KPL's end of season ceremony, having also been short-listed for the Midfielder of the year honour, and the 28-year-old admits the news came as a big shock to him.

"To be honest, I was very surprised when I received news that I had made two nominations considering the fact this is my first season in the league. It is however, all God's doing and I hope this is the beginning of greater things to come," he added.
