Nairobi - Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa admits that the club is still in dire financial trouble and says players and staff are owed a couple months' salaries.
The club is in deep trouble with Kalekwa failing to provide for the club as in previous seasons after a downturn in his business interests.
The players and staff were last paid in March and have previously threatened to go on strike to protest their current predicament.
Kalekwa though says that he feels terrible that his players are in their current state but says he is working hard to ensure the situation returns to normal.
" We are in a bad situation and I feel for the players because they depend on this job and have families to fend for, he said.
" They are very good people who have worked hard to ensure the club is where it is and I appreciate it and want all the best for them.
" Hopefully, we will be able to get the players something to take home next week, but yes, the financial situation is still bad, he added.
Sofapaka are placed fifth in the Kenyan Premier League.
