Nairobi - SoNy Sugar will not attend the Kenyan Premier League clash with AFC Leopards in protest of last minute changes to the match venue, the club has announced.
The club has announced that it will not travel to Nakuru where the KPL has moved the match to, instead of their Awendo home.
Head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno has said his side has not been given enough time to shift base from Awendo to Nakuru.
" We were informed Tuesday afternoon that the match will be played in Nakuru, less than 24 hours to the match, how is that fair at all? How is that feasible?
" We have to arrange for travel, we have to arrange for accommodation and allowances for the players. They should have informed us much earlier if they wanted a change.
" Also, we have fans here and this ground has hosted big matches before. It was impossible for us to travel at such short notice, he added.
According to reports on the ground, SoNy officials failed to attend the pre-match press conference and it is likely the match will be awarded to AFC Leopards, if past cases are to be used as a yardstick.
