Sharp rise for Kenya in FIFA ranking

19 December 2013, 14:09

Nairobi - The senior men’s national soccer team’s impressive form has been rewarded with a significant move up the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) rankings table.

According to the FIFA/ Coca Cola rankings released on Thursday, Kenya were one of the major movers on the table in as they soared up places to 109th.

They are 32nd in the continent.

This is the latest in a series of positive fortunes for the Harambee Stars who have won their last four matches on the trot.

The purple patch culminated in the side clinching the Council of Central and East African Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge following a 2-0 victory over rivals Sudan.

Signaling a bright future for the national side, the country’s Under 20 team was the toast of the just-ended Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Youth Championships where it played as guests.

They narrowly lost the final to South Africa in a tournament played in Lesotho.
