Nairobi - Former Kenyan international goalkeeper Joseph Ruto has retired from active football at the age of 32.
The goalkeeper, who has featured for the 2008 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Mathare United in the last six months, has confirmed that a number of challenges facing him at the moment have left him with no option but to call time on his career.
He is, however, not entirely leaving football, as with KNVB training as a goalkeeping coach, he said he is eyeing a keeper coaching role at a local or foreign club.
