London - Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge has signed a one-year contract extension that ties him to the Liberty Stadium until 2018, manager Garry Monk revealed on Thursday.
The technically accomplished 29-year-old winger arrived from Newcastle United in 2011 following unfulfilling stints at a succession of clubs, but he has become a mainstay of the Swansea team.

"He deserves (the new contract) because in my time here he's probably been our most consistent performer and he's still performing," Monk told a press conference.
"His time before coming here was well documented, but he's now found a home, somewhere he can be himself.
"He'll admit himself a little bit he rebelled at times as a youngster, but I think he never clicked at clubs where he felt he could express himself. Perhaps he was unsure of what he was capable of, but here he's had that freedom and guidance to be better."
